LIENS,
LAWYERS, and MED-PAY:
In Colorado, you will always have to sign a Medical Lien if you are going to treat with
a Medical Doctor, Chiropractor, etc., regardless if you have Health Insurance or Med-Pay. The lien means that
the Doctor agrees to be paid out of any settlement money for his/her treatment, especially if the care exceeds
the amount of the Med-Pay you have on your policy.
Sometimes much of the patient's Med-Pay is used up on your
first day's trip to the hospital in an ambulance, emergency room bills, MRI's, and attending Doctor's bills. In this case,
we will require that you have an attorney represent you. Lawyers can help if you start getting abused by the Insurance Company,
and can negotiate for you if your bills go beyond the Med-Pay amount. We have a list of APPROVED Attorneys that we work
with and will be happy to assist you in your decision.
