Questions about Acupuncture and Cosmetic Acupuncture:

Q: Can Chinese Acupuncturists really diagnose my problems just by looking at my tongue and taking my pulse?

A: Pulse and tongue diagnosis is highly SUBJECTIVE and "interpretive". While Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Doctors (Doctors who obtained their licenses in CHINA) probably can do this, the new generation of Acupuncturists like myself choose do diagnose OBJECTIVELY. I received my license in the UNITED STATES, and have practiced Contemporary Chinese Medicine (CCM) for 12 years. I use only state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including Ryodoraku testing, Electronic Meridian Imaging, which can be repeated by other practitioners with same result, taking the guess-work out of your diagnostic experience. The results of this test can be put on the computer monitor showing you, the patient, exactly what is wrong with you. Cost = $ 50.00

Q: What IS Acupuncture?
A:
Acupuncture is a treatment designed to balance the electrical energy in the body by precise placement of very fine disposable needles in strategic places along electromagnetic pathways called "Meridians". It is designed to improve blood flow, increase "CHI" energy, and decrease pain.

Q: Is Acupuncture painful?
A:
No. If it was painful, it was being done incorrectly. The treatments should be pleasant.

Q: What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?
A: Cosmetic Acupuncture is an effective way to diminish fine lines and wrinkles from the face. It is free of any negative side effects, unlike Botox, chemical peels, or surgery. It reduces the signs of aging by revitalizing the skin, giving a more youthful appearance.

Q: How does Cosmetic Acupuncture Work?
A: The tiny needles inserted increase blood circulation, stimulating collagen formation, filling in the wrinkle. The skin is oxygenated, nourished, and moisturized from the inside out, increasing elasticity. There are no side effects, no risks, relatively inexpensive, no recovery time, and you look like yourself, only better.

Q: Why Not Surgery?
A: The cost is over $ 6,000. Not to mention risks including scarring, nerve damage, infection, asymmetry, allergic reactions, and complications from anesthesia. Long and painful recovery time, pain medications needed, and some people don't like their appearance afterwards.

Q: Why not Botox?
A: Botox cannot treat wrinkle due to sun exposure or aging. It is only for dynamic wrinkles. There is risk of facial paralysis of the surrounding muscles and nerves, and the possibility of upper eyelid droop. The results are temporary. The more Botox you get, the more you will need to achieve results. $ 600- $ 1,000 every 3-4 months, and you may not be able to raise your eyebrows.

If you insist on getting Botox, you will find that acupuncture treatments actually makes the Botox effective for a longer period of time; most patients find they may only need their Botox treatments every 8-12 months, instead of every 3 months.

Q: Does Acupuncture help WEIGHT LOSS, FIBROMYALGIA, and CHRONIC PAIN like so many of these articles we read say it does?
A: Absolutely. Come for an evaluation, and you will learn how I do it.

Q:
How Many Acupuncture Treatments are Needed?
A: A course of treatment with any acupuncture procedure is 12 visits, or as we say in the Acupuncture business, "One Period" of treatment. Twice weekly for an initial 3 weeks, followed by once weekly for 6 weeks. My acupuncture patients like to get treated every 2-4 weeks for "maintenance".

Q: How long are the treatments?
A: Sessions are scheduled in 45 minute increments.

Q: Are acupuncture needles safe?
A: Yes. The Colorado Department of Health, OSHA, and the State Board specify and insist that only single use, disposable needles may be used.
